Casa Cardoso Rua da Fonte Taurina good fish restaurant
Dom Tinho at the end of the Cais da Ribera very smart

Chez Lapin Cais da Ribera long established place but possibly resting on its reputation
Visit the Solar do Vinho do Porto Museo Romantico Rua de Entre Quintas this is the port institute try a chilled white port and tonic in the garden with lovely views

The Station not just for cataching a train
Fundacao de Serralves outside the centre but a fabulous building with a modern art collection
Port Lodges in Vila Nova de Gaia worth going to one of the smaller ones like Calem or Ramos Pinto and for the view back to Porto
Take the tram to Foz de Douro both for the tram itself and to visit the seaside
Places to visit outside Porto
The Douro Valley you can get a train from Porto to Regua then to Pinhao, there is not much in Pinhao itself but the journey is beautiful you can then get a narrow gauge railway from Tua to Mirandelo (you will need to do some digging for connections)
Aveiro south of Porto and easily accessible is supposed to be lovely it is full of canals and bridges
Viana do Castelo north of Porto in a lovely town with great beaches nearby there is a very smart hotel in the centre Estalagem Caso Melo Alvim
